I am a novice and would appreciate a little help. I purchased a 9:1 balun and need some help to understand what length wires I would need to maximize reception.

I currently have discone that covers 25-1300 MHz and would like to supplement with the wired balun for the rest of the spectrum that the RSPduo is capable of (1kHz-100MHz???).

Could someone please help a little with the wire lengths needed to achieve above using this setup? Any advice is appreciated.

Typed a much longer reply, nuked it in posting. In short, look up “beverage antenna designs” in Google and you will find links that include wire lengths for each band you want to listen to. The 9:1 balun is a good starting point!

Maybe what you need is a beverage antenna? Google “beverage antenna design” and you will find links to several sites, such as
            http://www.mwcircle.org/mw_loop_beverage.htm
            https://www.w8ji.com/beverages.htm

that will explain what they are and how they work.
No, haven’t set one up myself yet, that project is going to have to wait a while. Hope this info helps.
