Decimation and dynamic range

      I have read that use of decimation can improve the dynamic range of SDRs. Is this correct? Is the noise floor effectively reduced? I have a RSPduo and a RSP2 that I operate at 144 MHz with an IF bandwidth of around 4kHz. What would be optimum?
